Waalbrug Bridge, Nijmegen, Netherlands - Hexavalent Chromium Coating Removal
Specialist Painting Group (SPG) partnered with Dutch contractor Feijenoord to successfully remove a hazardous coating system containing hexavalent chromium from the Waalbrug Bridge in Nijmegen, Netherlands. This process was carried out using RPR Heat Induction technology, an innovative and environmentally safe method for removing industrial coatings.
The project involved a controlled environment trial, where the team employed RPR Heat Induction to safely and effectively strip the existing coating. To assess the environmental impact and ensure the safety of all personnel, airborne pollution levels were meticulously monitored by a third-party laboratory. This ensured that exposure to hazardous substances was within safe limits during the coating removal process.
SPG’s collaboration with Feijenoord exemplifies their commitment to utilizing cutting-edge technology for hazardous material removal, ensuring both operational safety and environmental responsibility in critical infrastructure projects.
