Hatfield Station Footbridge: Advanced Coating Solutions for a 44-Meter Rail Structure
The Hatfield Station Footbridge, a 44-meter structure spanning multiple tracks in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, required extensive restoration due to the failure of its existing protective coating. With a significant percentage of the footbridge showing signs of corrosion, traditional abrasive blasting and mechanical surface preparation were deemed unfeasible due to the sensitive rail environment.
To address this, we opted for RPR heat induction technology, a highly effective method for coating removal that minimised the need for mechanical preparation while meeting the stringent surface preparation standards required for the application of a new protective coating system.
This innovative approach ensured the long-term durability and safety of the footbridge while preserving the integrity of the surrounding environment.
