The Challenge at PepsiCo Fritolay: Hot Surfaces
The PepsiCo Fritolay Tarsus incinerator is served by a 12 MW burner, with external surface temperatures reaching between 90°C and 100°C. Hot surfaces like these waste energy, because heat radiating from the plant is heat the site has paid for but is not using. They also create a hazard for anyone working nearby.
Reducing surface temperature therefore delivers two benefits at once: a safer working environment and lower fuel consumption.
Why Ti220 Was Chosen
The Ti220 insulation system, manufactured by EnerTherm, is designed to reduce energy costs across multiple facilities. Its effectiveness was proven through extensive testing and collaboration with EnerTherm, which led to its adoption at PepsiCo’s global sites.
At Tarsus, the system was strategically engineered to lower the incinerator’s surface temperatures while also decreasing the site’s annual gas consumption.
How Liquid Applied Insulation Works
Liquid applied insulation is sprayed or brushed directly onto the surface of plant and equipment, forming a seamless layer that follows the shape of the substrate. Unlike traditional cladding and lagging, there are no joints for moisture to enter, which also helps reduce the risk of corrosion under insulation.
